J. Cole — Dreamville

A North Carolina native, Cole grew up with a mother who loved rock and folk while his father was a fan of hardcore hip-hop artists like 2Pac and Ice Cube.

 

Since 2013, Cole has conducted an annual tour called “Dollar And A Dream” where fans willing to pay one dollar are treated to tracks from his early work.

J. Cole was the first artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label who released his official debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story, which debuted on top of the Billboard 200. Featuring the single “Power Trip”. Born Sinner followed in 2013 with guest appearances from Miguel, TLC, and Kendrick Lamar.

Forest Hills Drive Live

History turned into an album. Just in time for Cole’s born day, Forest Hills Drive Live includes thirteen tracks recorded live from Cole’s sold-out show at Crown Coliseum in his hometown of Fayetteville, N.C. The show was also featured in his HBO documentary Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming.

ROTD2 Crawl in NYC

 

 

NYC received a special treat last night after Dreamville decided to bar crawl to celebrate the release of ROTD 2.  The crawl stops were announced through subway flyers and eventually caught up online as fans tried to track the impromptu shows from stop to stop. Performers included  Cole, Bas, Cozz, Omen and Dreamville’s latest signee, Lute.

Revenge of the Dreamers II

J. Cole remixes 'Can I Kick It?' by A Tribe Called Quest

 

November 13 marks the 25th Anniversary  of Tribe Called Quest’s 1990 debut LP, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. To celebrate, the rap group is dropping a re-issue of the classic album with three fresh remixes. North Carolina rapper J. Cole added his own spin to the hit song “Can I Kick It?

You can pick up a copy of the 25th anniversary edition of A Tribe Called Quest’s debut album on November 13th.

Dreamville to perform at Air + Style Music Festival
